Green Campus

An innovative scheme launched with the aim of involving school/ college students in tree plantation campaign within their campus. Selected schools from the four southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have taken up this project during this academic year. Efforts are on to include every single school in these states within the purview of our project.

This not only ensures a clean green campus but also motivate the student community to get involved in the task of conservation of nature. Motivating students in environmental activities would surely go a long way in creating a better tomorrow.

Establishing ‘Eco-Clubs’ and celebrating important days connected with environmental conservation comes under the purview of this project. Also, an audio-visual presentation is getting ready for promoting eco-literacy among the student community.

Distribution of free seeds and saplings to students and involving student initiative in spreading eco-literacy in the society comes under this novel project.

Eco-Club

Shanthivanam is setting up nature clubs in schools and collages in the state with the motive of involving more students in the task of conservation of nature. A lot of activities are undertaken under the aegis of nature club like tree plantation, water conservation etc. It also brings out more efficient and promising students towards this endeavor. Establishment of nature club in these educational institutions also ensures a consistent effort in the campus in this regard.

A typical unit of nature club in a school campus would have a 10-20 member volunteer team with one faculty member to aid and advice them on all related aspects. The team takes initiative to plant and maintain the trees in and around the campus and also to celebrate important days connected with environmental awareness.
